After this experience I think I shall have to invest the money and up my storage as it is frankly in a different league to ugly, old, advert-infested, uTorrent; making it seem a worthwhile investment.

Seedr is one of the many sites that lets you download all your torrent files to its cloud and then download directly from the site without requiring any software installed. But today lets take a look at why Seedr is among one of the top “torrent to cloud” websites.

Basic features.
Most of us just get annoyed waiting for our torrent clients to collect seeds and start the download, so seedr in return lets you avoid all the hassles and provides you with a direct link to the file without any speed or bandwidth limit (including the free users). Although there are a few other restrictions for the free users like the ability to download 1 torrent to the cloud at a time, and just 2 GB of space being allotted initially. Although, you can add an extra 500 MB space by asking your friends to join through your referral link (up to 4 friends only). You can also receive extra space for sharing their website through various social media sites, with each task giving you extra 500/1000 MB space.

Using Seedr.
The UI is neat and clean and should be self-explanatory. Although, I’ll show you how to use their website with some screenshots as example.

Getting the torrent: There are 2 ways to add torrents for seedr to download, you can either copy the link address/magnet of the torrent and paste it in the “Paste torrent URL” box and click on the ‘+‘ icon to add. Else, if you have the .torrent file downloaded, then just click on the upload icon next right next to the ‘+’ icon to upload your file from local storage.

Waiting for seedr to finish downloading: Once you have added your torrent, seedr will start collecting seeds and will start the download to its cloud. We can also keep track of the downloads from the site as the files are being downloaded. If another user has already added the same torrent recently, then seedr automatically copies all the files to your folder, saves you from having to wait for seedr to download, which is an added advantage if you are downloading from popular torrent sites as a lot of them also might use seedr.

Downloading the files from seedr: Once your download is complete, seedr will have the files ready in your folder. We can either download the file in .zip format or directly download individual files in the default format. The .zip file will contain all your files in a single download. But if you want to download only certain files from any particular torrent, just double click on the folder, right click on the file that you need to download, and then you can either just click on “Download” option to download using the browser or if you have any download managers, you can select “Copy Download Link” and add manually to your download manager. Do not delete the folder as you’re downloading the file, as it might stop your download with an error.

Streaming: If your torrent contains any video files in it, then you can stream it directly from seedr instead of downloading it. Although, free users are limited to stream in Standard Definition while premium users can stream in HD.

After download: Once you have finished downloading the file, you can delete the torrent from your folder. You can add another torrent and start downloading right away as there is no bandwidth/speed limit even for the free users which is just great. Seed-Download-Delete-Repeat!

I feel that the pricing for premium accounts seem fair. Not too costly and comes with some neat features for those who need it. I just wanted to make a small comparison between the Free, Basic, Pro and Master subscriptions.

Seedr Free: The free subscription initially comes with 2 GB space, which we can increase by using referral links and sharing their website, as I explained above. We can download only 1 torrent to the cloud at a time, but there is no limit on how many torrents could be downloaded over time as long it is within the storage limit provided. Unlimited bandwidth ensures you can download as much as you want each month, unlike other sites where free users are given only certain bandwidth per-day or per-month. Even the download speeds are not limited in any way. The only real downside is you can stream only in Standard Definition as a free user but then most of users will be downloading the file anyways.
